Window tint
Window tintquestions.
What are the benefits of window tinting?
Benefits include reduced heat and glare, UV protection, increased privacy, and improved aesthetics.
Is window tinting legal?
Window tinting laws vary by location and typically regulate the allowable darkness and reflectivity of the tint. It's important to check local regulations.
What is the difference between dyed, metalized, and ceramic window tint?
Dyed tint is affordable and provides basic shading, metalized tint has metallic particles for better heat reduction (though can block cell signals so is typically used for residential/architectural application), and ceramic tint offers superior heat performance without interfering with electronics.
How long does window tint last?
The lifespan of window tint varies based on film quality and exposure. All of our films come with a lifetime material and labor warranty against peeling, fading, purpling, delaminating, bubbling, or any other problems that occur with the film.
How is window tint applied?
Window tint is applied by thoroughly cleaning the window, cutting the tint film to size, using heat to form it to the glass, and adhering it to the glass with a special adhesive.
Can window tint be removed?
Yes, window tint can be removed using heat (usually a steamer) and a chemical solution, though it’s recommended to have a professional do it.
Does window tint affect visibility at night?
Darker tints can reduce visibility at night, so it's important to choose a tint that balances day and night driving needs.
Will window tint bubble or peel over time?
High-quality tint applied professionally should not bubble or peel if properly maintained, though lower-quality tints may degrade faster.
How much does window tinting cost?
Costs vary based on the type of tint, size of the vehicle or windows, and the professional services used. Prices can range from $120 to $800 or more.
How do I care for my tinted windows?
Avoid using ammonia-based cleaners, and use soft cloths or sponges to clean the tinted surfaces to prevent scratches and damage. Also be mindful when removing your seatbelt as you don’t want it to nick the film.
Can window tint be applied to windows with factory tint?
Yes, factory tint is baked into the glass and there is no issue with applying tint on top of existing factory tint. Tint can even be applied over existing film, but it typically voids any warranty.
Does window tint provide privacy at night?
Window tint provides privacy during the day when it is brighter outside, but at night, when lights are on inside, visibility from the outside increases.
Does window tint block UV rays?
Most window tints block 99% of harmful UV rays, providing protection against skin damage and interior fading.
Can window tint help reduce energy costs?
Yes, window tint can reduce cooling costs by keeping the interior cooler, which lowers the need for air conditioning.
How long does it take to tint car windows?
Tinting a car’s windows can take between 2 to 4 hours, occasionally longer, depending on the number of windows and the complexity of the job.
Can I roll down my windows after tinting?
It’s generally recommended to wait at least 3 to 5 days before rolling down your windows to allow the tint to fully adhere.
What is the darkest legal tint?
This varies by state or country. Common limits are 35% VLT (Visible Light Transmission) on front side windows and lower percentages for rear windows.
Will window tint interfere with GPS or cell phone signals?
Metalized tints can interfere with signals, but ceramic and dyed tints typically do not cause any issues.
Can I install window tint myself?
DIY window tint kits are available, but professional installation is recommended for the best results and to ensure compliance with legal standards. Imagine trying to install a screen protector to your phone but your phone was the size of a car window.
What is the best window tint for Teslas?
Because of the amount of glass incorporated into the style of Teslas, notably the Model 3, Model Y, Model X, and Cyber Truck, a quality heat rejecting ceramic tint is the best option for Tesla owners looking to cool down their vehicles, and even extend their range while doing so.
Ceramic coating
Ceramic coating& PPF questions.
What is the difference between a ceramic coating and clear bra?
Ceramic coatings and Clear Bra (Paint Protection Film) serve distinct purposes in protecting your vehicle. A ceramic coating repels water, dirt, and contaminants, enhancing the paint's gloss and providing protection against UV rays and minor scratches. On the other hand, Clear Bra is a transparent, physical film that covers the paint to shield it from rock chips, scratches, and other physical damage. While Clear Bra offers substantial protection against physical abrasions, ceramic coatings provide a chemical shield that improves the paint’s overall appearance and ease of maintenance.
Should I use a ceramic coating on my wheels?
Applying a ceramic coating to your wheels is highly recommended. Ceramic coatings on wheels provide excellent protection against brake dust, road grime, and harsh chemicals, making them easier to clean and maintain. The coating also acts as a barrier against corrosion and damage, helping to keep your wheels looking pristine for a longer period.
